WHAT ARE ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS?

Zygomatic implants are much longer than standard titanium implants. They are placed in the jawbone beyond the area’s of bone loss into the zygoma bone (cheekbone). They are generally placed in conjunction with other standard implants to create stability for the prosthesis. In the most extreme cases of severe bone loss, 2 zygoma implants may be placed.

Zygomatic implants are much longer than traditional implants and they are anchored in the upper jawbone near the dense zygoma bone, which is near your cheekbone. Because of their location, no multiple surgeries or grafting procedures are needed. This also means that Zygomatic implant patients can avoid the average nine month waitto complete their treatment. And because they are supported in the zygoma bone, they allow patients with severe bone loss to have a fixed temporary prosthesis fitted immediately after surgery, which means, you will have teeth, as opposed to a removable denture, the day you have your implants placed.

They allow patients who otherwise would not be implant candidates to receive treatment to bring them back to form and function.
